Rally offers free school supplies to Arlington students

ARLINGTON — With the school year right around the corner, volunteers will soon be giving away 500 backpacks to children in need.

The Back2School Rally takes place at 2 p.m., Aug. 29, at Presidents Elementary School, located at 505 E. Third Street.

During the event organizers will be handing out the backpacks free of charge. The packs will be filled with school supplies that were donated by area churches, businesses, organizations and individuals.

Pre-registration is required to receive a backpack. Parents can visit www.arlingtonbackpack.com for more information.

Volunteers will also be offering haircuts, dental checkups and other services.
