Country cafe serves up meals to raise funds for Silvana firefighters

SILVANA — Willow & Jim's Country Cafe in Silvana will be hosting the 12th annual breakfast and lunch fundraiser for Snohomish County Fire District 19 in Silvana from 7 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 4.

The firefighters will serve up the meals cooked by the cafe staff, with all proceeds going toward the firefighters' association. The firefighters will also be selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the association, which was created to supplement the needs of the firefighters that the fire district can't meet.

"These proceeds have purchased water rescue equipment for us and allowed us to sponsor families who have suffered house fires during Christmas," said Whitney Wetzel, a firefighter and EMT with the fire district. "The community helps us out, and we help the community out in turn. It's just a really fun morning that lets us get out there and answer people's questions too."
