ARLINGTON — The 2013 Arlington Relay For Life season will kick off with a "Big Top Under the Stars" theme on Saturday, Jan. 5, between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Team members and captains for the Relay For Life to support the American Cancer Society are encouraged to swing by downtown Arlington, between Legion Park and the Arlington City Hall, to register their teams, while everyone else is invited to stop by and learn more about Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.

Arlington Relay For Life organizers hope to register 41 teams on Jan. 5, and are offering a "Purple Kickoff Special" of only $8 to register.

The day's events are also set to include Voices of the Village performing in the Legion Park gazebo, carnival-style fun and games from Legion Park to City Hall, and speeches by Arlington Mayor Barbara Tolbert at noon, Jerry Wood at 1 p.m. and a cancer survivor to be determined at 2 p.m.
