ARLINGTON — Monday, Nov. 11, will see the return of the annual Veterans Day Parade to downtown Arlington, as well as the return of Arlington American Legion Post 76’s free dinner for all veterans.

The parade will line up on Olympic Avenue between 10:30-10:45 a.m. for the start of the parade at 11 a.m., which stops at the memorial in Legion Park to pay respects to the American military members who came before.

The truck with the World War II and other older veterans has long been a mainstay of the parade, but Arlington Legion members strive to represent every era of veterans in the procession, including Vietnam veterans.

“On this Veterans Day, let us all take time to remember those who have served our country and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to thank those who continue to serve and defend our country,” said Barb Lloyd, who handles public relations for Arlington American Legion Post 76.

The dinner will run from 4-6 p.m. that same day at the Arlington American Legion Post 76 Lounge, located at 115 N. Olympic Ave.

The dinner is free to all veterans, but $6 per plate for non-veterans.

“We’ll be serving a ham dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and pudding,” Lloyd said. “Ordinarily, the Post purchases the food, and the Auxiliary cooks and serves it, but any Legionnaires or Sons of the American Legion are welcome to help.”

Lloyd noted that Arlington American Legion Post 76 is made up of not only Legionnaires, but also Sons of the American Legion and the Auxiliary.

“American Legion Post 76 has been helping our veterans and the community for many years,” Lloyd said. “The American Legion family is there to provide assistance in any way we can, to help our veterans and their families. For more information, please call 360-435-2492.”
