Dollars for Scholars has cash for grads

Arlington Dollars for Scholars has announced scholarships for graduates from the Arlington School District are now available on-line at www.arlingtondfs.org. There are several scholarships with specific criteria and some without any specific criteria.

School retirees offer scholarships

June 15 is the deadline to apply for the Sno-Isle Unit 22 of the Washington State School Retirees Association's $1,000 scholarship to a prospective teacher. Candidates must be residents of Snohomish or Island counties, or enrolled in a four-year Washington university and accepted into a department of education. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Selections are based on transcripts, leadership, activities and essays. For information and an application, call WSSRA at 425-347-2719.

VFW offers $1,000

Arlington's Veterans of Foreign Wars 1561 has announced that four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to some deserving seniors. Applications are available from Arlington Post Commander, William Morse at 425-232-8453

"This will be the fourth year for this post to award scholarships," Morse said.

"It has been a very humbling experience for us with the tremendous accomplishments of these young people."
