VCS sets Sept. 12 ‘Friendship Walk’

ARLINGTON — Village Community Services is asking for walkers and other volunteers to take part in its second annual “Friendship Walk” Sept. 12.

Registration starts at 11 a.m. at the Arlington Legion Park Gazebo, located at 114 N Olympic Ave., where Voices of the Village will be providing music, and the walk itself is set to start at 1 p.m., after which Voices of the Village will once again provide live music, and “Friendship Awards” will be handed out.

Donations and sponsorships are being gratefully accepted, and those who donate or collect $25 or more in sponsorships will receive commemorative T-shirts.

Volunteers are needed to set up, serve as crossing guards and the safety patrol, staff the rest stations and first aid station, conduct registration, provide hospitality and clean up. Students may earn service learning hours by volunteering.
