ARLINGTON — A local church will be offering a free Thanksgiving dinner.

The dinner will be served from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 at St. Andrew Orthodox Church. Turkey, ham, trimmings and dessert will be available.

“We started this last year when the economy started getting bad,” organizer Robert Mott said. “There’s a group in Arlington called ‘Hands Together’ whose mission is to support the homeless and needy, and this dinner was one of the outreaches that came out of that group.”

The church is located at 230 E. Burke Ave., about a block east of the Thrifty Food Pavilion.

“I believe that there are even more unemployed people in our community now than there were a year ago, so we want to offer the dinner again so that everyone in Arlington can have a place to go for a hot Thanksgiving meal,” Mott said.
