LAKEWOOD - The Lakewood School District will soon have a new director of instructional programs and technology.

Tita Mallory, who spent the last eight years as director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for the Aberdeen School District, begins her new position with the district July 1.

Mallory takes over for Cathy Anderegg, who has held the position in Lakewood for the past two years.

"Tita has a vision for the effective use of technology to prepare our students," Lakewood Superintendent Dennis Haddock said in a statement. "We are fortunate to have someone of Tita's expertise and enthusiasm."

Mallory's administrative experience includes serving as an elementary school principal during the current school year.

She has also spent three years as an educational technology staff member for Educational Service District 113 in Olympia, and has provided professional development for teachers working to integrate technology into their classrooms.

Additionally, Mallory has 11 years of teaching experience in Aberdeen and California. She earned her administrative credentials from Seattle Pacific University in 2004, a master's degree from the University of Portland in 1997 and her teaching credential from California State University (Chico) in 1986.

"I am very excited to be joining the Lakewood School District’s team of educators," Mallory said in an e-mail. "I’ve already learned about many of the quality programs the district offers its students. I am looking forward to collaborating with administrators, teachers and support staff to enhance the great things that are happening."

According to the district's job description, the director of instructional programs and technology is responsible for "the effectiveness and implementation of the District's instructional programs as evidenced through multiple measures of student performance, including federal, state and local assessments."

The position's responsibility includes oversight of a variety programs, grants and departments within the district.
