EVERETT — Local residents Mark McClure and Rochelle James are among a group of new officers taking over on the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

McClure, an Arlington resident, will serve as first vice-chair of the Board of Directors, while James, a Tulalip resident, will chair the Board's Fundraising Committee.

Officers are elected from the chapter's Board on a yearly basis.

“Because of our stagnant regional and national economy, we expect this Board to face a challenging year,” said Chuck Morrison, Snohomish County Chapter executive director. “But we hope to extend our streak to eight consecutive years of balancing our budget. Our donors expect us to do so, and our goal is always to do so while providing exceptional services for the citizens of Snohomish County.”

Other new Red Cross officers include Chair LeAnne Harrington, Treasurer Pat Sisneros and Nominating Committee Chair Al Aldrich.

A third area resident — Deirdre Kvangnes of Marysville — has been appointed to the Board. Kvangnes was among five new Board members slated to be announced Friday, July 23.
