'Roaming Artists' art show features north County artists

CAMANO ISLAND — Watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings will again be on display during the annual "Roaming Artists" art show.

The free art show, which features works from a handful of Arlington and Marysville artists, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, and Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Camano Multipurpose Center (141 N. East Camano Drive).

The event will feature cards and original paintings — framed and unframed — that will be available for purchase.

Attendees can also purchase raffle tickets to win a watercolor donated by Roaming Artists group member Beverly Paulson.

Paulson received the People's Choice Award during last year's show.

Camano Island resident Hallie Price, a Board member and Treasurer for the Stanwood Camano Island Arts Guild, will be honored as the group's featured artist during two-day show.

Price, who is an active member of the Roaming Artists, has helped worked with the Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation to establish an endowed scholarship for members of the community, and has also designed the foundation's logo.

The Roaming Artists are made up of 38 local residents who gather twice a week to paint outdoors. The artists refer to themselves as "plein-air," or plain air, because their work is completed outside.

The group's name comes from their nomadic nature, organizer said.

"This once-a-year show has become a favorite place to view the work of talented new and more experienced artists," said group member Bob Paczkowski.
