ARLINGTON — The Arlington Free Methodist Church will be helping to raise funds for two good causes while providing an afternoon and evening of rock music at "Love That Rocks," running from 2-8 p.m. on the church grounds on Saturday, Aug. 4.
Arlington Free Methodist Church Pastor Chuck Shockie explained that "Love That Rocks" has no suggested donation price, just whatever attendees feel like pitching in for the Arlington cold-weather shelter and the church's sponsorship of a three-story hospital for the poor and disenfranchised in downtown Guatemala, where many of the congregation's doctors have already made mission trips.
The day's three bands are set to include the British Beats, who play familiar favorites from the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, as well as Knox and Company, which Shockie described as "a ballad and boogie band with a bit of a Lyle Lovett sound," and a third surprise band whose female singer Shockie claims has "a tremendous voice."
