A hard-rock, new grunge band called Black Light, comprised of Ty Gaynor, Alex Kay Anthony and Joe Jarvis, has scored a gig in Seattle. They will be performing Sunday, April 27, at El Corazon in an Explore Music Festival that features more than 20 Northwest punk and alternative bands.

Gaynor is the lead guitar player, M-PHS students Alex Anthony plays bass and Joe Jarvis is the drummer. They perform their own original music and a few covers, Bern Osterhaug, the band's manager, said. They have appeared for several public performances in Marysville, at the Annex, and courtyard shows at Allen Creek Community Church, as well in concerts at the Grange and at the Masonic Temple. They have also played twice at Studio 7 in Seattle.

"We've got more than 30 songs," Bern Osterhaug, the band's manager, said. The young musicians attended a meeting for proposed Marysville Community Playhouse Association and are helping to promote the effort through their MySpace stie.

"We need all the support we can get from any musicains in the Marysville area to help make this a reality. Come to the next meeting on April 30," says the site. Visit marysvilleplayhouse.org for more information.

Their promoter for two years, Bern, who is a drummer and bassist at high school, said this is the biggest venue they have played to date, with a capacity of more than 300 people. El Corazón is located at 109 Eastlake Ave. in Seattle.

Admission to the show is $12 at the door or at Blacklight.com or at myspace.com/blacklightonline. To reserve tickets by phone call Bern at 425-314-7826.

The show starts at noon.
