Harry Engstrom paints a very pretty beach on the outside wall of the Playa Bonita Mexican restaurant in downtown Arlington. The renowned mural painter is working on another mural on the western retaining wall of Olympic Hill in another project funded in a partnership between the Arlington Arts Council and the city of Arlington. The mural on the hill depicts life on the Stillaguamish River, with fishermen and fish and other underwater critters. Engstrom has done four murals in downtown Arlington, including the Westside Species on the east retaining wall on Olympic Hill, Three Beauties with three Holstein cows in the merchants parking lot in the 300 block and “Old Engine No. One” on the back of Evonne’s Antique Mall, facing the Centennial Trail. The Stilly Valley Victorian on the back of MeLady Lanes bowling alley is also by Engstrom. He also installed a painting recently on the back of Arlington Hardware.
