Concert band plans Dec. 4 performance

ARLINGTON — A regional band will soon be sharing its music with Arlington residents.

The North Cascades Concert Band, under the direction of Lylburn Layer, will be kicking off its fall concert series titled “Broadway, Hollywood and Beyond” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, at the Byrnes Performing Arts Center.

The community band, which is comprised of musicians from the northern region of western Washington, has been performing for the past 14 years in Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties.

The band regularly performs music from John Philip Sousa, George Gershwin, Gustav Holst and other famous composers.

During its fall concert series, the band will be playing musical arrangements by Warren Barker, Michael Brown and Richard Rodgers and other musicians.

The Shoreline Community Band, under the direction of Ken Noreen, will also play at the concert.

Tickets for the concert may be purchased at www.byrnesperformingarts.org or at the door.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and $5 for students.
