MARYSVILLE – The first city July 4 event in years was a big hit Thursday.

Thousands of people attended the festivities at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

The fireworks show certainly was the highlight, with the display often exploding right in front of the audience on the fields just south of the school.

The band Baby Cakes from Bellingham performed while kids played in a couple of bouncy houses.

Adults and kids alike played games like volleyball and cornhole.

The Marysville Kiwanis Club and WhistleStop Sweet Shop sold food items.
