ARLINGTON – Arlington kicked off the 2018 Music on the Terraces Aug. 2 featuring free outdoor Thursday night concerts.

The series opened with the soaring rhythm and blues sounds of Mojo Cannon, a well-traveled 10-piece band that gets a soulful lift from its 13th Street horn section.

Upcoming performances run the gamut of musical styles from guitar and violin interplay to big hair heavy metal and country music from an Arlington mainstay.

Concerts run from 6:30-8 p.m. in the natural amphitheater in the back of Terrace Park, 809 E. 5th St., which also plays center stage for Shakespeare in the Park in June, and a twilight movie series in July.

Here are the upcoming performance dates:

Aug. 9 – Hillary & Kate – Two voices, guitar and violin deliver folk, bluegrass and gospel music with a youthful twist. This concert is sponsored by Calvary Arlington.

Aug. 16 – Metal Shop – Big hair tribute to heavy metal music.

Aug. 23 – Harvey Creek Band – Arlington’s country artist hometown favorites close out the series with their unique blend of modern and old country tunes.

Concerts are funded in part by an Arlington hotel-motel tourism grant.
