MARYSVILLE – Families in the Marysville School District’s Early Childhood Education Assistance Program understand the important role the city’s food bank plays in the community.

Last month, several parent leaders came together to promote a fundraising campaign – an aluminum can collection. The project came about as ECEAP students completed a science unit on recycling. Parents and ECEAP staff sought to bolster this lesson by showing the impact recycling has on community success.

Families collected enough cans that they were able to donate $70 to the food bank’s Food for Thought Program, a program designed to help relieve childhood hunger by providing weekend meals to students during the school year.

“Many of our families benefit from the work of the Marysville Community Food Bank, and this important program,” said Joann Moffitt, ECEAP program manager. “They wanted to show how much they care about these services by giving back to the programs that help support them.”
