June 1, 2012 · 5:08 PM
SMOKEY POINT — Senior Services of Snohomish County and the Stillaguamish Senior Center will jointly present a six-week workshop on "Living Well with Chronic Conditions," designed to help individuals who have ongoing conditions — such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease, chronic pain, arthritis, and hypertension — improve the quality of their lives.
Attendees can learn to reduce their stress and frustration, manage their symptoms, set weekly goals, problem-solve effectively, improve their communication, relax, handle difficult emotions, eat well and exercise safely. Family members, friends and caregivers of those with these conditions can also participate, but space is limited, so reservations are required.
The six-week workshop is free and includes the book "Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions," also free of charge.
The Stillaguamish Senior Center is located at 18308 Smokey Point Blvd. in Arlington. The workshop will run from 1:30-4 p.m. on the Thursdays of June 7, 14 and 28, as well as July 5, 12 and 19. For more information or to register, call Barb Thomas at 425-265-2283 or log onto www.sssc.org.
