Walk MS returns to Tulalip April 12
TULALIP — Walk MS Snohomish County is returning to the Tulalip Amphitheatre in Quil Ceda Village on Saturday, April 12, to raise funds for research, services and programs for people living with multiple sclerosis.
The National MS Society Greater Northwest Chapter has set its sights on raising $167,000 through this year’s Walk MS Snohomish County, presented by Haggen Northwest Fresh and TOP Food & Drug. Together with nearly two dozen other Walk MS events in Washington, Alaska, northern Idaho and Montana, the chapter hopes to raise $2.2 million during its annual fundraising event.
The Snohomish County event will begin at 9 a.m. at the Tulalip Amphitheatre, located at 10400 Quil Ceda Blvd.
“Walk MS is a great way to bring families, friends and coworkers together to enjoy a spring day, have fun and raise much-needed funds for a cause that affects nearly 15,000 people throughout our chapter community,” Chapter President Patty Shepherd-Barnes said. “I hope everyone will consider joining the MS movement, as people from all paths of life come together with a shared goal of creating a world free of MS.”
More than 800 registered supporters turned out at the Tulalip Amphitheatre last year, to trek around the Seattle Premium Outlets and Tulalip Casino. Last year’s walkers were greeted with live music from the band “The Singles” covering classic rock hits, face painters for the kids, goats from Team Goat Farmers, Bomber the Fox mascot from the Washington Stealth lacrosse team and Lincoln the Everett Silvertips’ mascot. Walkers were also cheered on by the Washington Stealth cheerleading squad, the Bombshells.
In Washington, there are 11 individual walks, and Snohomish County hosts the largest. The overall fundraising goal for last year’s Snohomish County walk was $125,000.
