MARYSVILLE — Tuesday is the last day local voters can cast their ballots for the Aug. 16 primary election.

According to Snohomish County Elections, 9,005 ballots were sent to voters in Arlington and 37,775 ballots were sent to voters in the Marysville School District. As of Aug. 15, the Elections Department had received 1,841 ballots (or 20.4 percent) from Arlington and 5,588 ballots (or 14.8 percent) from voters in the Marysville School District.

Voters in Arlington are being asked to choose between six candidates for mayor — Steve Baker, Craig Christianson, Kari Ilonummi, Carsten Mullin, Debora Nelson and Barb Tolbert. Voters in Marysville will also be choosing from four candidates — incumbent Darci Becker and challengers Pete Lundberg, Michael Hansen and Rod Rieger — who are all running for Marysville School District Board Director 3.

If you return your ballot by mail, it must be postmarked by Aug. 16.You can also drop off your ballot at one of the local 24-hour ballot drop boxes. In Arlington the drop box is located at the Arlington Sno-Isle Library at 135 N. Washington Ave. In Marysville, the ballot drop box is at a new location this year and is no longer at the Marysville Library. It is now located at the Marysville Municipal Court at 1015 State Ave.

The ballot drop boxes are now open 24 hours a day and will close at 8 p.m., on election day, Aug. 16.

You can confirm your ballot has been received by going to the Snohomish County Election’s website at www.snoco.org/elections.
