Traffic shifted at SR 9 intersection near Arlington for roundabout construction

August 21, 2012 · 3:38 PM

ARLINGTON — Drivers on State Route 9 will notice some changes to the highway as they pass through the State Route 531 intersection south of Arlington.

Construction crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will shift traffic on SR 9 on the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 21, from the west to the east side of the intersection to make room for continued construction of a new roundabout. Crews will work on building the west half of the roundabout.

One lane of SR 9 will continue to remain open in both the north and southbound directions during construction. Drivers are encouraged to use caution as they drive through and get used to the temporarily configured intersection.

Access to the local coffee stand on the east leg of the intersection will reopen with the shift in traffic.
