ARLINGTON - One person is dead and four others injured after a two-car collision on State Route 9 just north of Crown Ridge Blvd.
The accident occurred at 3:09 p.m., Aug. 30, after a vehicle traveling northbound crossed the centerline and struck a southbound vehicle, according to Kristin Banfield, assistance city administrator/city clerk.
The northbound vehicle had one occupant whose age and hometown are unknown at this time. After extraction and lifesaving attempts, the driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced deceased.
The southbound vehicle had four occupants, two adult women and two children. According to Banfield, the two adult women were extracted from the vehicle in which they were traveling and transported to Providence Hospital in Everett with possible serious injuries. The two children were also transported to Providence Hospital for precautionary measures. Airlift had originally been called but did not transport any of the patients.
Banfield added that the city of Arlington is hosting a meeting at Arlington High School, which is near the accident scene. The city is asking attendees of the meeting to get to the high school through the Gleneagle neighborhood since access from SR 9 is restricted due to the fatality investigation.
