EVERETT – Drivers should be prepared to use another route next week while the drawspan of the southbound State Route 529 Snohomish River Bridge undergoes nightly inspection work.

All lanes of southbound SR 529 at the bridge will close Sunday, Feb. 24 through Wednesday, Feb. 27 nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Southbound drivers will follow a signed detour to Interstate 5. Local access to Smith and Spencer islands will be maintained. The southbound I-5 exit to SR 529 will also be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. The northbound bridge is not affected by the inspection work.

Crews must open the bridge drawspan for lengthy periods of time for specialized inspections of the 59-year-old span.
