Arlington Police arrest two in weekend armed robberies

ARLINGTON — On Sunday, May 5, Arlington Police arrested two 19-year-old male suspects from Arlington for investigation of robbery in the first degree and assault in the second degree, related to three armed robberies of an espresso stand and two convenience stores in downtown Arlington that occurred over the weekend. The suspects are also believed to be responsible for the Feb. 5 armed robbery of Moe's Espresso, located in the 100 block of W. Division Street.

The arrests were made possible in large part due to the observations of several witnesses who were able to provide police with the license plate number of a fleeing suspect's vehicle. This information was provided to Arlington Police immediately following a reported armed robbery that occurred on May 5 at approximately 5:20 p.m. at Cheeper's Food and Things, located in the 500 block of N. West Avenue.

Two additional armed robberies occurred on Saturday, May 4, between 9:45-10:00 a.m. At approximately 9:45 a.m. that day, a report of an armed robbery at the Triple Shot Espresso stand, located in the 500 block of N. Olympic Avenue, was received by Arlington Police. Less than 20 minutes later, another armed robbery was reported to have occurred at the Quick Stop convenience store in the 200 block of N. Olympic Avenue.

In all four robberies, a firearm was seen or implied. Police are continuing to investigate, and anticipate additional arrests and charges to be filed in the coming weeks.
