Panning for gold
August 27, 2008 · Updated 3:46 PM
Don Tinney, left, and Lee Stucker, share stories about their experiences mining many years ago at Darringtons side of the grand opening celebration of the Mountain Loop Highway. Stucker said he did some hard rock mining for a short time in 1961, and Tinney did placer mining. Tinney was demonstrating the art of panning gold for the Washington Prospectors Mining Association based in Sedro-Woolley. That was the hardest thing I ever did, Stucker said about hard-rock mining.
