Strider awarded Olympic Avenue contract

ARLINGTON Strider Construction of Bellingham was awarded the bid for the second phase of the North Olympic Avenue Reconstruction Project at the March 5 Arlington City Council meeting.
Strider submitted the lowest bid of all five contractors, in the amount of $4,173,753, to complete all the remaining work to reconstruct Olympic Avenue, including new water, sewer and storm lines, new road surfaces, and new curbs, gutters and sidewalks.
Call for the bids on the second phase of the project was released at the end of January and the bid opening was held on Feb. 28 at 2 p.m.
City of Arlington Capital Projects Manager Paul Ellis recommended that the City Council authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with Strider Construction, citing the numerous positive recommendations that the contractor received, many of them from the companies it was competing with for this bid.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the North Olympic Avenue Reconstruction Project is currently scheduled for March 22 at 5 p.m. in Legion Park, and will be followed by an open house in the City Council Chambers
