From left, Jacklyn Bennett, Kate Moberly, and Hailey Melton lead the flag salute at the Aug. 6 City Council meeting. The girls are members of the Snohomish County Camp Fire Clubs Field of Friends led by Robin Moberly and Shelma Larsen. They are all 10 years old, and are going into the fifth and sixth grades. The girls launched a project coordinated by City Councilman Scott Solla and Council candidate Virginia Hatch. We will be having various youth groups lead the Pledge of Allegiance at City Council meetings throughout the fall , Solla said. Virginia and I both have been in touch with local youth organization leaders and introduced the idea to them, giving them the opportunity to sign up for a date, he added.
