ARLINGTON The Pioneer Elementary Parent Teacher Student Association hopes their neighbors will keep them in mind, in the midst of the holiday season, as they prepare their first auction to raise funds for a new playground structure, for both the students of their school and the children of the surrounding community.
Pioneer Elementary will host a silent auction Nov. 4 from 4-6 p.m., followed by a barbecue dinner from 6-7 p.m. and a live auction from 7-8 p.m., at a ticket price of $20 per person for dinner and both auctions, or $5 per person for both auctions, without dinner.
According to Pioneer Elementary PTSA President Michelle Jaromin, the PTSA has already received a proposed drawing for the playground and expects that the first phase of making the playground a reality will require a minimum of $25,000.
Most of the schools classrooms will pitch in by providing either special projects made by their students or themed baskets to be auctioned off. Among the featured the themes will be family fun, sports, chocolate, movies, and arts and crafts.
The teachers are offering up some amazing dates, like swimming with Mrs. Fay, Mrs. Hadley and Mrs. Hubenthal, scrap-booking with Mrs. Adams, and attending a Silvertips game with Mr. Olson, Mr. Whitten and Mr. Dolan, said Jaromin, who likewise boasted donations from Pioneer Elementary families and area businesses such as a Husky football and a Sonics basketball signed by the players, gift certificates for meals at local restaurants and haircuts from local salons, and an assortment of jewelry, golf clubs and artwork.
Jaromin explained that the PTSAs goal is to provide a more playful environment for the students at Pioneer Elementary, with a play structure that includes slides and things to climb on, since their current structure is all upper-body strength, monkey bar-style play.
Jaromin noted that recess has always been an area that our PTSA has focused on in the past, albeit more on indoor activities, and as such, now wed like to focus on outdoor activities and improving those for all the students and children of our community.
The Pioneer Elementary Parent Teacher Student Association first-annual playground structure fundraiser will happen at Pioneer Elementary, located on 8213 Eaglefield Drive in Arlington, with a silent auction Nov. 4 from 4-6 p.m., followed by a barbecue dinner from 6-7 p.m. and a live auction from 7-8 p.m., at a ticket price of $20 per person for dinner and both auctions, or $5 per person for both auctions, without dinner.
