ARLINGTON The Two Rivers Smoke Shop in Darrington hopes to offer its customers competitive prices.
We pay our taxes, said Sally Howard, manager of the store. Our prices might be a couple of bucks higher, but because of our location, folks in Darrington dont have to drive all the way down to Arlington. With gas prices being so high, it more than balances out.
The Two Rivers Smoke Shop is owned by the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe Trust Corporation, whose treasurer is Aron Harris. He explained that the Tribes compact with Washington state allows them to return sales tax revenues to government services that the Tribe deems essential to its operations, from educational programs to health care.
In addition to promoting the economic development of the Tribe, were also hoping to create more jobs in the local community, Harris said.
Howard emphasized that all brands of tobacco products stocked will be from the United States. In addition to cigarettes, chew and cigars, she elaborated that the shop carries milk, bread, candy, soda and other standard convenience store items.
You could come in and buy everything youd need for a picnic, Howard said.
The Two Rivers Smoke Shop is located at 5318 Chief Brown Lane in Darrington, and is open seven days a week, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can call them at 360-436-2846.
