OKinsella wins PUD art
Cougar Creek Elementary School fifth-grader Kendall OKinsella was one of the winners in the 2007 PUD Art Contest.
This years contest encouraged students to submit a poster supporting conscientious energy consumption. Kendalls artwork will be on display at the main Snohomish County PUD building and she will be recognized at a Board of commissioners meeting in May. She will also receive a prize of $50.

OSPI recognizes LWSD achievements
The Lakewood School District received a plaque and a congratulatory letter from Dr. Terry Bergeson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, for their noteworthy academic achievement in 2005-06.
Schools and districts received the Academic Improvement Award if they reduce by 10 percent the number of students who missed meeting the reading, mathematics, or writing goals from one school year to the next. A school or district can earn this distinction in reading, writing, and mathematics for grades 4, 7, and 10.
Lakewood received recognition for its fourth-graders in reading, writing and mathematics as well as its tenth-graders in reading and writing.
Booster Club sets physicals
The Lakewood Sports Booster Club presents physical exams for Lakewood student athletics on June 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at Smokey Point Family Medicine, 16410 Smokey Point Blvd., cost is $25 per athlete.
Medical forms are available at school offices or at check in. Parents need to sign consent forms. If you have questions, call 425-293-6742.
