February 6, 2009 · Updated 12:34 PM
Anna Lockhart turned 103 on Jan. 28 and celebrated her birthday with 60 of her friends and family on the Sunday before. She moved to Arlington from Colorado to be near her daughter and lived at Rose Creek Apartments until she was 101, according to her daughter, Maureen Depuy. "She loves her parties," Depuy said. "She enjoys life and is very friendly and outgoing." When Anna arrived in Arlington she immediately joined the Catholic Church. When she fell and the family decided it was time for her to find an assisted living facility, she wanted to move across the ponds to Cascade Senior Living, where several friends were moved. Anna came from Ireland in her 20s about 75 years ago, according to Depuy. "She lived in New York, where I was born and raised and then we moved to Colorado Springs." Depuy found the Northwest through her husband, Frank, who works for Boeing. "I am very happy to still have my mom," Depuy said that her dad died many years ago at age 62 and her brother also died young, when he was 54. Anna has two grandsons, one in Mukilteo and one in Tacoma, and eight great grandchildren.
