Zach Tankersley, of Arlington Boy Scout Troop 29, will be honored at a special Eagle Scout ceremony 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28 at the Medallion Hotel in Smokey Point and he invites any friends and alumni of Troop 29 to attend. To earn Scouting's highest honor, Tankersley earned the 21 required merit badges plus 32 more and he served in many leadership positions in his Troop. He completed his eagle service project last year by leading more than 12 Scouts and adults over a two month period to refurbish and build new games for President's Elementary School carnival. Tankersley has been a member of Troop 29 for seven years and was a member of Cub Scout Pack 29 for five years, starting out as a Tiger Cub in 1997. He has participated in many service projects and community events in Arlington. He is currently a senior at Arlington High School and plans to attend university come fall.
