SMOKEY POINT — Drivers should expect delays in both directions of I-5 near Smokey Point on Monday night, April 13, while crews inspect traffic detection loops embedded in the roadway.

On April 13 crews will close two of three lanes on southbound I-5 near the Smokey Point rest area from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., and one of three lanes on northbound I-5 near the Smokey Point rest area from 11:59 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Traffic detection loops are used throughout the state to gather data on traffic volumes and speeds. WSDOT uses this data to show traffic conditions on its traffic flow Web sites.

Information about construction on highways in Snohomish County is available at the WSDOT Web site.
