Arlington – Marysville and Arlington fire units were called to the Smokey Point McDonalds, 3529 172nd St. NE about 1 p.m., May 17, according to the city's public information coordinator, Kristin Banfield.

Upon their arrival, the restaurant was already evacuated and smoke was visible from the doorways.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area, primarily the area around the fry cooker. Banfield said that management was in City Hall to get permits for repairs bright and early Monday morning.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshal estimated the damage at $50,000. The restaurant will be closed until the fire and smoke damage can be repaired.
