Leaders and achievers scholarship Program recognizes high school seniors with a grant from The Comcast Foundation

Two Arlington girls get Comcast grants
Arlington — Two Arlington-area student have been recognized by the Comcast Leaders and Achievers program with a $1,000 grant from The Comcast Foundation, which was founded in 1999 to provide charitable support to its local communities and to empower and enrich lives.
The winners are Amanda Wreggelsworth, of Arlington High School, who plans to attend Carrol College in Montana, and Alyxandria Hodges, of Highland Christian School, who will attend Azusa Pacific University in California.
Winners were awarded this scholarship based on their demonstration of service and leadership. Wreggelsworth and Hodges have been active members in their schools and communities.
Wreggelsworth was a member of her school's national honors program as well as an active member of a local 4-H Club. She plans on majoring in biology.
Hodges was an extremely involved member of her church and its youth group. She also donated her time to a teen mother outreach program. She plans on majoring in music or management.
The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program provides one-time $1,000 scholarships to students who strive to achieve their potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The philosophy behind the program is to give young people every opportunity to be prepared for the future, to engage youth in their communities, and to demonstrate the importance of civic involvement, and the value placed on civic involvement by the business community.
