SILVANA — A 24-year-old Sedro-Woolley man died earlier today after a tree fell on him, authorities said.

The incident, which was reported at about 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, took place in the 7500 block of Silvana Terrace Road, west of Silvana.

Snohomish County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said the man was reportedly employed as a private contractor for a logging and tree service company. He was allegedly using a chainsaw to bring down an unstable tree that was partially suspended by the branches of nearby trees in a wooded area on private property.

A large section of the tree then fell on him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Hover said. Deputies have determined that the man's death was an accident.

A second man working with the victim was not injured.
