Arlington police and fire respond to collision at 172nd and 67th

ARLINGTON – Arlington fire and police responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 2:47 p.m. Wednesday at 172nd Street NE and 67th Avenue.

An officer happened upon the incident minutes after an eastbound Hyundai Elantra collided with a Dodge Ram truck in the intersection, city spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said.

Medics took one patient to Cascade Valley Hospital as a precaution.

The collision remains under investigation.

Later that evening, first responders were back at 172nd again at the intersection of Smokey Point Boulevard.

At about 10 p.m., police and fire were summoned to reports of a hit and run involving a car and pedestrian.

Officials said the car left the scene, but the driver and vehicle were located later by Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies. The pedestrian refused aid.

That incident is also under investigation.

Both the Smokey Point Boulevard and 67th intersections on 172nd are well-travelled and often congested arterials during peak commuter hours that account for number of traffic accidents on local roadways.
