Community partner helps beautify Arlington elementary school

ARLINGTON- Arlington Assembly of God church and community members spent Aug. 12 helping clean up Pioneer Elementary School.

About 100 volunteers joined in to pull weeds, trim hedges and plants, spread new bark, paint fire lines and stripe the parking lot.

“This was part of our ‘Community Serve Day,’ and we shortened our Sunday morning service to rally together to serve our community,” said Taunya Sanchez, children’s director at Arlington Assembly.

APS Superintendent Chrys Sweeting thanked the church for their involvement in helping the district meet one of its strategic plan goals that encourages parent and community partnerships.

“Our custodians and grounds crews work really hard to keep our school buildings operating and looking nice, but it’s great when a community partner can give a school that extra attention,” she said.
