Candidate filing begins May 14 for federal, state, local offices

SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Candidate filing for offices up for election in 2012 begins Monday, May 14, and continues through Friday, May 18. Candidates may file either through the Washington State Office of the Secretary of State for federal, statewide or state offices representing voters from multiple counties, or with their local county for local county offices or for state offices representing voters entirely within the county.

The Snohomish County Auditor's Office will offer both online and in-person filing this year. Candidates may file online through the Snohomish County website at www.snoco.org starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 14. Online filing will be available 24 hours a day until 4 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Candidates filing online will need a valid email address.

Tolbert leading Arlington mayor's race

ARLINGTON — The city of Arlington is set to have not only a new mayor, but also three new members on its City Council. As of Nov. 15 at 4:22 p.m., Barbara Tolbert is leading Steve Baker in the Arlington mayor's race by 2,224 votes, or 52.75 percent of the vote, to 1,954 votes, or 46.35 percent of the vote, out of 4,216 votes counted.

Arlington City Council sets timeline to select Solla's successor

Baker, Tolbert leading Arlington mayor primary election

MARYSVILLE — Steve Baker and Barb Tolbert appear to be headed for the general election as candidates for the Arlington mayor's race this fall. In the wake of the Aug. 16 primary election, the results as of 4:17 p.m. on Aug. 19 show Arlington City Council member Baker, the mayor pro-tem of Arlington, with 815 votes, or 29.58 percent of the votes counted, and Tolbert with 781 votes, or 28.35 percent of the vote. Of their fellow candidates, Debora Nelson received 480 votes, or 17.42 percent of the votes counted, while Craig Christianson received 385 votes, or 13.97 percent of the votes counted, and Carsten Mullin received 186 votes, or 6.75 percent of the votes counted. Kari Ilonummi received 86 votes, or 3.12 percent of the vote, and write-ins received 22 votes, or 0.8 percent of the votes counted.

Arlington mayor's race candidates answer questions at public forum

ARLINGTON — All six candidates for the Arlington mayor's race answered questions about their qualifications and plans for the office they sought, during a public forum that had begun as a function for a more specific audience.
