MARYSVILLE – Fire destroyed a home Monday in the 14500 block of 54th Drive NE.

The homeowner and his roommate were not inside, but two dogs are believed to have died.

Estimated property loss was $275,000.

A neighbor called 9-1-1 to report flames on the roof of the two-story home just after 1 p.m. Firefighters arrived minutes later to find the home engulfed in flames. The home was undergoing remodeling, which may have expedited the spread of the fire, a news release says.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal. Firefighters from Arlington and Getchell assisted Marysville Fire District.
