K-9 dog bites Arlington man, who surrenders

ARLINGTON – A routine traffic stop turned into a chase and ultimately a dog bite for a suspect who chose not to surrender.

At about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, an Arlington police officer initiated a stop for a minor traffic violation in the 20400 block of 97th Avenue NE.

The driver initially stopped but then took off at a rapid rate of speed.

Officers initiated a short pursuit, which was then called off when the male driver and female passenger bailed out of the vehicle. The man, 26, and the woman, 24, are both of Arlington.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Ronin quickly located the driver. After having numerous chances to surrender and choosing not to, the man was bitten by Ronin and taken into custody. The man was treated at Cascade Valley Hospital for minor injuries.

The search for the woman continued for about an hour when an Arlington officer located her walking in the 9700 block of Tveit Loop Road.

Both suspects will be booked into Snohomish County Jail on several felonies, including possession of a stolen motor vehicle and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
