Man found after getting lost searching for gold

ARLINGTON – A 61-year-old Seattle man searching for gold became lost Tuesday night and was found thanks to his girlfriend, GPS, SnoHawk 1 helicopter and search and rescue personnel.

The sheriff’s office responded about 8:40 p.m. after the man called his girlfriend, and she called 9-1-1. Deputies called the lost man on his cell phone and had him dial 9-1-1 to try and locate him via GPS coordinates. SnoHawk 1 responded and had the man dial 911 a second time and was able to locate him and create a route for ground crews to reachhim. Search and rescue was able to cut through thick brush and locate the man. He was dehydrated, cold and scratched up. He was escorted out of the woods, provided with water and given a ride to his girlfriend’s vehicle.
