M’ville man dies; police seek help in finding hit-and-run driver

MARYSVILLE – A 52-year-old man was killed this morning after being struck by a vehicle on the northbound onramp to Interstate 5 at Fourth Street in Marysville.

The onramp was closed for 2 1/2 hours during the investigation, causing some traffic backups as motorists were directed to alternate routes.

Police are seeking help in tracking down the hit-and-run driver and the vehicle.

At about 4:30 a.m. Marysville police began to get calls. When officers arrived, they found the man lying in the roadway with life-threatening injuries. The man was most likely struck by a vehicle while in the crosswalk. He was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. Call 360-363-8350 with information.

“Often times these tragic accidents are just that, accidents. They are compounded when the driver panics and begins to make very poor decisions,” Cmdr. Mark Thomas said, adding, “I would encourage the driver of the vehicle to turn themselves in sooner than later.”
