EVERETT – As it should be, seniors were the stars at the Marysville-Pilchuck High School graduation Wednesday evening at Xfinity Arena.

Loren Anderson and Sheridan Hedman, two of the valedictorians, along with Melissa Bean and Mackenzi Chapman, gave speeches. Student reflection speeches were presented by Annaleese Zamudio and Lauren Ghosn, and Class President Griffin Hubbert also spoke.

Hannah Reams sang “I’ll Always Remember You,” by Miley Cyrus. Hedman also sang the National Anthem to her 325 classmates and hundreds upon hundreds of family and friends in the arena.

Faith Verburg was the salutatorian and Timothy Barton Jr. was the class secretary and Sara Vanderway the treasurer.

Retiring M-P Principal Rob Lowry welcomed the graduates, along with families and friends. He also handed out the diplomas.

Superintendent Becky Berg and school board members Chris Nation, Maria Maksimos, Tom Albright, Bruce Larson and Pete Lundberg greeted the graduates, as did incoming principal David Rose and vice principal Deann Anguiano.

The M-P concert band provided the processional and the M-P drum line, led by Anderson, gave the graduates a rousing send-off.
