Earl Greathouse (88) was born October 4, 1927, and passed away June 1, 2016.
Earl was a long-time resident of Arlington, Washington. He resided with his parents in Blaine, Washington, for the first five years of his life. Thereafter, the family moved to Seattle, Washington, for another five years, ultimately settling in Arlington.
Earl graduated from Arlington High School in 1946 and joined the Army that same year. He received an Honorable Discharge. After his second Tour in the Army, he worked at an Alaska cannery as a bookkeeper. He also worked for his father in the family business. His first automobile was a 1946 Ford.
Earl married Marjorie Thompson during the 1950’s, and they had two children, Lori Davis and Scott Greathouse.
He is survived by his wife, children and a brother, Glen Greathouse.
Earl was very involved with the Masonic Lodge for many years. He was a more than 50-year member and Past Master of Arlington Lodge #129, F.&A.M.; a 50- plus year member who also presided over four bodies of Everett Valley Scottish Rite (33rd Degree); a member of the 30th Degree team and many others over the years; and was a member of all three York Rite bodies (Arlington) and Royal Order of Scotland. He was also active within the DeMolay.
He relished the performing arts, ballet, opera, classical music and the symphony. He also had a keen interest in genealogy and was an American history buff.
Earl worked for nearly 20 years for Scott Paper Mills from which he retired. Following retirement Earl enjoyed traveling.
A Scottish Rite Rose Croix Funeral/Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Temple (Main Sanctuary) located at 2431 Rucker Avenue, Everett, Washington 98201. Refreshments will be served at the Temple immediately following the service.
