As a hyper-local newspaper focusing mostly on Marysville and Arlington issues, we can’t do much on national and state politics.

However, we do know some of our readers like to know who and what we would vote for if we had that opportunity.

Voters should be getting their ballots in the mail soon. Ballots are due Nov. 6.

Below are our choices. Races in which we have no preferences aren’t listed.

Initiative 1631: Absolutely not. Please study it thoroughly.

Initiative 1634: Yes. Taxes are high enough, even on pop.

Initiative 1639: Yes. It’s past time for some gun controls.

Initiative 940: No. Police oppose it because it won’t do what supporters say it will.

Advisory Vote 19: Repeal. Voters should decide about that.

U.S. Senate: Susan Hutchison – R. Time for a change.

District 2 U.S. Rep.: Rick Larsen – D. He’s ours.

10th state Rep: Norma Smith – R. She gets results.

38th state Rep: John McCoy – D. But we like Savio Pham.

44th state Rep. 1: John Lovick – D. His experience matters.

44th state Rep. 2: Jared Mead – D. An up and comer.

39th state Rep. 2: Carolyn Eslick – R. She means business.

Snohomish County Proposition 1: Approve. Society needs this communication system.

Arlington School District Proposition 1: Show Marysville how it’s done.

Fire District 15 Proposition 1: Approve. How do you put a price on safety?
