Fiscally Responsible?
August 27, 2008 · Updated 8:02 PM
As we face the 2008 legislative session here in Washington state, Im worried.
Gov. Christine Gregoire peppered her legislative priorities with the term fiscally responsible. Was it fiscally responsible to increase the budget by more than six billion dollars since she took office, leaving us in the red for the next budget, at a time when Washingtonians are worried about the economy?
She talks about preparing for the lean times, by spending away our billions in surplus. I shudder at what sort of fiscal responsibility we are in for this year.
Dino Rossi means it when he says fiscally responsible, like when he produced the no-new-taxes budget in 2003. Too bad we have to wait another year for him to take over the governors office.
