Judges should be held to a high standard

I was rather surprised to learn that Joe Wilson, a candidate for Superior Court Judge, has had multiple DUI’s or alcohol related driving incidents as reported in the local media. Shouldn’t Superior Court Judges exemplify the law?

Mr. Wilson has been in private practice serving criminal, real estate and probate clients and has volunteered his time in the community. Since he has not served in any public capacity, it is rather difficult to find out his “success” or record as an attorney. However, although he admits to his own involvement as a defendant with the law, he explains it as providing him training and knowledge in “human weakness.”

I don’t personally wish to have a judge on the bench who is still learning about his own, no doubt, “human weakness.” Judges should follow the law and be held to a very high standard by the public since what they do can have tremendous effects upon the communities in which they serve.
