Eagles advance to district championships

SNOHOMISH — The Eagles boys basketball team won an important victory on Friday, Feb. 8, when they topped Edmonds-Woodway 58-47 at Glacier Peak High School in a Wesco 4A District 1 semifinal game.

It was a close game and the fourth quarter proved to be essential for Arlington's success.

Edmonds-Woodway started out strong, and while the Eagles kept pace with their offenses they trailed by two points, going into the second quarter with a 13-11 score. And the Eagles didn't like that.

They battled back with big shots and out-scored the Warriors by seven points in the second quarter, giving them a 29-24 lead going into halftime.

But the Warriors weren't ready to give up yet and scored 10 points in the third quarter, while Arlington scored nine, giving the Eagles a 38-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.

That fourth quarter could have gone either way, but with the Eagles making big shots offensively and upping their defensive ante to block a number of Warriors, it's no surprise that Arlington outscored them by seven points, putting up a final score of 58-47 by the time the buzzer went off.

Bradey Brummel scored 16 points, while Kaleb Bryson scored 12 and Terry Dawn scored 11. Noah Jones scored eight points, A.J. Passalaqua scored seven points and Nate Lewis and Gavin Smoke each scored two points.

The Eagles face Jackson High School at Glacier Peak at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, in the District Championship game. Both teams are headed for the regional tournament starting on Feb. 22.
