Eagles fall to Panthers, 6-1

SNOHOMISH — The Eagles’ tennis team faced the Snohomish Panthers in an away match on Wednesday, Oct. 8, losing overall 6-1 to Snohomish.

Arlington’s No. 1 singles player, senior Trent Sarver, defeated Snohomish’s Andrew Ivelia, 6-1, 6-1. The Eagles No. 2 singles player, Connor Ghirardo, battled against Snohomish’s Jory Strickland in a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 match. The Panthers’ Kincaid Norris defeated Arlington’s Nick Mendro, 6-0, 6-0, while Norris’ teammate Adam Ivelia defeated Arlington’s Isaiah Mitzelfeldt 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, Arlington’s team of Jessie Vaughn and Rawley Davis battled on the court, but the victory went to Snohomish’s Colton Casto and Collin Gagnon, who won 6-4, 6-0. Lucas Lynum and Coleman Davis, of Arlington, also fought a tough match against the doubles team of Cam Marchant and Drake Wilson in a 6-1, 6-1 loss.

Arlington is a young team with a 1-8 league record and a 1-10 record overall. However, several of the players are training hard to make it into the post-season, according to head coach Sean Cunningham.

The Eagles face Mount Vernon in an away match on Monday, Oct. 14, at 3:30 p.m.
